For the 8th edition of the Festival TransAmériques, it is the piece Snakeskins – the latest work by Benoît Lachambre, and the one for which he received the 2013 Grand prix de la danse de Montréalthat opens the festival, at l’Usine C.

On May 23 and 24 2014, at 8 PM, you can find Benoit Lachambre on stage, accompanied by Daniele Albanese and Hahn Rowe.

On Saturday May 24th at 12:30, we invite you to the FTA headquarters (175 ave President-Kennedy) for an exceptional meeting with Benoît Lachambre.

Elsewhere during the FTA, Benoît Lachambre also appears in the piece Phèdre by Jérémie Niel, performing with de Marie BrassardMani Soleymanlou, and Emmanuel Schwartz.

Winner of the 2013 Montreal Dance Prize Presented By Québecor

LES PRIX DE LA DANSE DE MONTRÉAL (PDM) announced the winner of the 2013 MONTREAL DANCE PRIZE presented by QUÉBECOR during a ceremony held at the Espace culturel Georges-Émile-Lapalme of Place des Arts. Benoît Lachambre was awarded the 2013 MONTREAL DANCE PRIZE presented by QUÉBECOR. The award celebrates the excellence of a dance artist who presented a work in Montreal between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013. The winner received a $50,000 prize made possible thanks to the generosity of QUÉBECOR and donors Marcel Côté and Jean Pierre Desrosiers. QUÉBECOR’s Vice President of Communications Sylvie Cordeau had the honour of presenting the prize to the winner.

Benoît Lachambre, whose work Snakeskins was performed at Montreal’s Usine C in October 2012, has made an exceptional contribution to the promotion and advancement of dance. Based in Montreal, he is the Artistic Director of Par B.L.eux, as well as a performer, internationally acclaimed choreographer, researcher and educator. Over the years, his artistic endeavour has proven to be as unique as it is essential. Multi-talented and generous, Lachambre fearlessly explores new ways of moving. He is also known for his countless creative collaborations, having worked with many accomplished artists such as Louise Lecavalier, Meg Stuart and musician Hahn Rowe. In awarding him the 2013 MONTREAL DANCE PRIZE, the jury pays homage to his maturity as a choreographer and performer, and to the outstanding mastery of his art form.
