Centre International de Recherche et de Création en danse et en arts connexes (CIRC) to open in Sutton, in the Brome-Missisquoi region

Today, the Québec minister for Culture, Communications et la Condition féminine (MCCCF) announced an agreement in principle for the funding of the CIRC, a project totalling $3.8 M. The private sector will also be invited to be a part of this exceptional artistic initiative.

Under the direction of Benoît Lachambre and André Malacket, respectively artistic director and general manager of the contemporary dance company Par B.L.eux, the CIRC will be devoted to research, creation, training and innovation in the performing arts and the avant-garde community. It is slated to open in the summer of 2011.

The CIRC will be a cultural passageway connecting Sutton to such centres as Paris, Berlin, Stockholm and Brussels, and to some of the best artistic practices in the world’s most important choreographic centres.
A space for reflection, creation and renewal for professionals and artists from the next generation, this hub of activity, in perfect harmony with nature, will break new ground with its philosophy, its mission and its openness to the world

A considerable breakthrough for the Canadian performing arts and contemporary creation milieu

International encounters, creation residencies, workshops designed for renowned teachers, along with services for artistic support and career for the next generation: such activities will foster rich cultural exchange between Canadian artists and some of the brightest figures from the international arts scene.

Renowned for its presence on the world’s stages, Par B.L.eux aims to share the networks the company has cultivated over the past twenty years. As a new figure in the local business community, the CIRC hopes to become an important factor for the economic diversification of Brome-Missisquoi with the integration of a pillar, widely known for the excellence of its work in the international arts community.
