Lugares Comunes… it could be the name of a militant underground resistance movement. Or is it simply the title of a newspaper that reports on the actions of a group of people in a time and place beyond our familiar coordinates? This we know for sure: it is a neo-scientific excursion into the realm of possibility, where the virtual and the actual are only a blink apart. After the environmental, curatorial projects Not to Know (with Andrew de Lotbinière Harwood) and 100 Rencontres, and the close triangle of Forgeries, Love and Other Matters (the much appraised piece with Meg Stuart and Hahn Rowe), Lachambre takes a group of fourteen collaborators to the frontal setup of the classical theater space in order to meet his audience full-on. Instead of emphasizing difference and separation, the aim is to inhabit the T-junction of meeting. What is communality, what is the connexive tissue of our be-longing, what do we ultimately share without shareholding?
Lugares Comunes is the test ground for empathy, influence and new social organisms of collective bodies and cohabitation; it spins the frivolity of a futuristic musical, the boldness of science fiction with the yarn of utopic thought.
